Mock Meet Info

Hey Parents,

We wanted to share a little bit of information about our Mock Meet that will be this Saturday.  (This email may be kind of long, but I promise it will have good information.  The mock meet is a perfect time to learn how the meets work and to figure out any bugs we need to work out before our first official meet.  This meet also gives the swimmer seed times for future meets.

Friday:

  • We will set up for the meet while the kids practice.  We will need as much help as possible (especially from our dads who are better able to lift heavy items).  New parents - there will be several parents and board members to help you know what needs to be done.
  • Parents of 6 and under kids, please talk to Coach Sarah to find out if your swimmer is ready to swim in Saturday's meet.
  • If you have not joined our text notifications group, please do so by texting @sealions2 to 81010.  Notifications about the meet, weather delays, etc will be sent through this method.
  • We will start handing out fundraiser packets for this year's Swim-a-thon (our one fundraiser of the season).  We need each swimmer to raise a minimum of $30 (there is an option to "opt-out" for $30 per swimmer, but we hope all swimmers will participate).

Saturday:

  • Check in is at 7:00 am.
    • Swimmers 10 & Under need to have their name written on their right shoulder before check in.  Volunteer will write their event number on their arms.
  • Warm ups will begin at 7:15.  All swimmer should participate in warm ups.
  • Swimmers will need to listen for their event number to be called so they know when to go to the ready bench. (there is also a flip chart with these numbers near the ready bench)
  • We will continue to hand out information about our fundraiser (Swim-a-thon).  If you don't pick yours up on Friday, please get it before leaving the meet.
  • Concessions will be open, but feel free to bring your own snacks as well.
  • Only swimmers and specific volunteers will be allowed in the swimmers line up area.
  • There will be certain areas flagged off.  These are officials only areas.  Please do not walk under the flags to walk through the area.
  • No one is allowed in the baby pool.

What to bring to the meet:

  • Swimsuit, goggles (it's always a good idea to have a backup pair), swim cap (optional), towels
  • Sunscreen - reapply often
  • Waters - stay hydrated
  • Lawn chairs
  • Canopies
  • Snacks or money for concessions
  • Swimmers Ear (use this after every practice and meet)
  • Some parents like to have ink pens and highlighters to write in the heat sheets

I hope I'm not forgetting anything.  Saturday will be great fun!!!  If you have any questions please contact me at [email protected].

Go Sea Lions,

Suzonna
